What does it cost to hire a trailer from Scram Trailers?

Trailer hire rates start as low as $19 per day for rentals of 30 days or more, moving up gradually to a maximum of $45 per day for short term rentals.

What is minimum hire period?

The minimum trailer hire period is 3 days

What colours are Scram Trailers available in?

As Henry Ford once said “You can have any colour you want so long as it is black.”

Are Scram Trailers painted?

Yes, the Scram Trailers have a black powder coated finish to help protect them from the elements.

Where are we located?

We operate from our main trailer hire premises located in Brookvale on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and have a number of depots across Sydney, NSW. See our Contact page for locations.

Can I collect my trailer hire after business hours?

Our regular opening hours are between 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday but we try to be flexible so call us on 1300 100 321 and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Is there a charge for you to deliver or collect?

Yes, if trailer hire bookings are made more than a couple of days ahead of the delivery date we can arrange delivery to areas within 15km of one of our depots for $40, please contact us for quotations for areas beyond 15km.

How does the Damage Waiver work?

When you hire a trailer may pay an additional fee called the “Premium Damage Waiver” which reduces their Damage Waiver Excess to $300. For full details please refer to our Trailer Hire Terms and Conditions

Do I have to sign an agreement when I rent a trailer?

Can I take a trailer hired from Scram Trailers interstate?

Yes

What are my payment options?

Payments are for rentals are accepted by Visa or Master Card while for trailer sales you can also pay by bank deposit or in cash.

How much can I carry in a Scram Trailer?

The volume capacity of the enclosed luggage box trailer rented or sold by scram! trailers is just over 1000 litres which is more than twice that of the average roof box / pod and and can carry 530 kgs of luggage including 50 kgs on the luggage racks on the lid.

Do I need a tow bar?

Yes, tow bars need to be fitted with a tow bar and 50mm tow ball to be able to rent a trailer.

Where can I get a tow bar fitted?

Any tow bar specialist fitter will be able to fit your car with a tow bar with a 50mm ball. Below are some tow bar fitters in Sydney to help you or simply search on Google

What is the size of tow bar ball hitch that scram! trailers have?

What happens if I have an accident?

1 => report the accident to police
2 => if another vehicle is involved collect the other party’s name, address, phone number, registration number and the name of their insurance company

What happens if the trailer breaks down?

In the unlikely event that a trailer breaks down please contact us as soon as possible on 1300 100 321

What happens if I return the Scram Trailer late?

In the event that you call us on 1300 100 321 to inform us that you will be late, in most cases it will be possible to simply extend the trailer hire period based on our standard rates but if no notice is given you will be charged a penalty rate of $30 per day. Do all Scram Trailers come with a spare tyre?

Yes, but please make sure that you have a 22mm wrench.

What is the stud pattern on the wheels?

The wheels used are commonly found in Australia with 5-bolt pattern with a 4.5″ or 114.3 mm bolt circle (PCD)

What types of electrical plugs do our Scram Trailers have?

Scram Trailers have adaptors which fit both flat and round 7 pin as well as the both the large and small round 5 pin plugs. See the example below.

 

How old do you need to be to rent a Scram Trailer?

21 years.

Do your trailers have brakes?

No

How do I secure the Scram Trailer, do you have Locks and Wheel Clamps?

Do I need a special license to rent a trailer from Scram Trailers?

Drivers with Probationary or Full Drivers Licenses are permitted to hire a trailer but drivers with Learners permit are not allowed to drive the vehicle while the trailer is hitched to the car.

Are there restrictions on the types of surfaces or roads I can take a rented Scram Trailer?

Scram Trailers have been designed to travel on sealed roads and are not intended for unsealed roads. When you hire a trailer it is strictly forbidden to take a Scram Trailers onto any 4 wheel drive tracks, the beach, through water deeper than 10cm. How does having a Scram Trailer impact me on Toll Roads?

Most Toll Roads do not charge extra for Scram Trailers being towed behind a car which has paid the Toll, but please check the Toll Road information boards of the roads as you pass through the booths. If any tolls are due you will be liable for those tolls.

What should I do if I see another scram! trailer?

Hoot, wave (driver only with one hand) and take a picture.
